The West Pittston Library is currently searching for a volunteer to serve as Treasurer of our Board of Trustees, a group that is responsible for the strategic, long-term success of the West Pittston Library.

If selected, you will have the honor of serving as a public library trustee which comes with responsibility for several areas of public library governance. For this role we are looking for someone specifically with bookkeeping, accounting or treasurer experience. Living in the service area of Falls/Harding/West Pittston/ Exeter is preferred.

Our Treasurer must be available to participate in Board Meetings, which are scheduled in the evening every second Tuesday of the month. Meeting dates for the rest of 2024 are as follows: Nov 12. The Treasurer will also need to communicate monthly with our Business Manager and Director.

Public library trustees should demonstrate the core competencies required to handle their main areas of responsibility: Library Governance, Advocacy, Fundraising, Policies, and Public Relations. As a public library trustee, your primary responsibility is the success of the library, both now and in the future. Trustees have a legal responsibility to successfully maintain a free, public, nonsectarian library for all residents in the library’s service area.
