Circulation Assistant

The West Pittston Library is accepting resumes for the position of Library Director.

The library has a service area population of over 4,500 and is part of the Luzerne County Library System. Members of the library system share support services, a catalog, and an array of print and digital resources. West Pittston Library has a diverse range of services for adults and children and enjoys a robust development program. They take pride in what they offer the community and not only want to maintain their high level of service but continue to grow and adapt to changes in technology and the community’s needs.

The Director works a minimum of 35 hours per week and manages a staff of around 8 part-time employees, including a bookkeeper and dedicated children’s librarian.

Job Requirements:

• Library experience that includes some management experience
• Master of Library Science or bachelor’s degree in any discipline
• Outstanding communicator with the ability to explain the value of the library to the wider community
• Well-organized and able to meet deadlines
• Willingness to fundraise and coordinate various fundraising campaigns
• Ability to understand budgets and financial information
• Cultivate relationships with patrons, businesses, donors, and foundations who all support the library in various ways
• Embrace and appreciate the history of West Pittston and the West Pittston Library (oldest library in Luzerne County) and have a vision for the future of the library
• Knowledge of computers, the internet, and commercially available library software. Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
